Surgery on the gastrointestinal tract may be required for a wide spectrum of conditions including trauma, infection, perforation, inflammatory conditions, adhesions and cancer. In many cases surgery can be performed via a laparoscopic (keyhole) approach however depending on the nature of the disease an open approach may be more appropriate.

The most appropriate surgical procedure will depend on the region of bowel involved and nature of the disease and is tailored for each patient to achieve an optimum result. After a complete assessment Dr Meyer-Rochow will discuss the recommended surgical procedure with you. For any condition outside his area of expertise he will be able to recommend and expedite a referral to the most appropriate sub-specialist surgeon.
